Kazakhmys Project LLC - Bozshakol copper mine

The Bozshakol Copper project will be a major asset development for Kazakhmys. The ‘greenfield’ site is located approximately 220 kilometres northeast of Astana in north-eastern Kazakhstan. The proposed facility incorporates a conventional copper concentrator plant, with expected throughput of 28 million tonnes per year. Additional offsite infrastructure is also required to be developed, including rail, power and road upgrades.

Turner & Townsend’s contribution

Turner & Townsend are providing project control services as part of the Kazakhmys’ owners team. During the feasibility phase, our team is located with the study team in Brisbane, Australia. When the project proceeds into execution, Turner & Townsend’s project services team will transfer to the project office in Kazakhstan.

The range of project controls services provided includes:

  • estimating and budget setting
  • cost control and management, and cost forecasting
  • performance management of epcm study team
  • planning / scheduling and progress measurement
  • interface with contracts and procurement function
  • management reporting
